TechFestNW, Portland’s annual summer tech event, is out with its slate of speakers, as well as a cool new venue, for this years’ event.
The presentation highlights include former Intel futurist and chief evangelist Steven Power Brown, Schell Games CEO and Carnegie Mellon University Professor Jesse Schell and Union Square Ventures General Manager Brittany Laughlin.
The event, slated for Aug. 20-21, also features a new location in Revolution Hall. In past years, the event has taken place at Oregon Museum of Science and Industry, but it has outgrown the venue. Last year’s festivities sold out at 1,000 attendees, according to organizers.
Like last year, the event will feature a talent fair. Select Portland startups will get to pitch in front of local and out-of-town investors. The startup organization TiE Oregon is vetting startups that will pitch, said organizer and Willamette Week Editor and Publisher Mark Zusman.
Added this year is a game jam organized by Portland Indie Game Squad. Portland is home to a growing indie game community that Zusman said organizers want to highlight."
