"Washington’s technology sector added nearly 5,000 jobs in 2015, increasing the state’s total tech employment to more than 214,000, according to a new report by the Computing Technology Industry Association.
Those new jobs represent a 2.3 percent employment increase for the technology sector, according to the newly-released report called “Cyberstates 2016: The Definitive State-by-State Analysis of the U.S. Tech Industry.” The technology industry contributes and estimated 12.6 percent to the Washington economy, researchers said.
The report ranked Washington ninth in the U.S. in technology employment. The $129,400 annual average wage of Washington technology workers is 135 percent higher than average private sector salaries, according to the report. Washington is second only to California in average tech wages, said the report, which is based primarily on data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics."
